Match against Market Harborough 2 - 27.4.10
Our first match of the season against our 2nd team, who have come down a league. Jill Storer & Chris Smith scored 1/9 3/9 6/9. Marilyn Knibb & Liz Rothero scored 2/9 6/9 7/9. Julie Hunt & Karen Westley scored 2/9 1/9 5/9. Resulting in a 0/9 loss to us with a game score of 33/81. Not a good start!

Match against Leicestershire G -  7.5.10
We travelled to Leicester this week for our second game of the season. The weather was extremely cold and raining. Marilyn Knibb & Liz Rothero lost to the strong 1st pair, but did well to win a tie break against the 2nd pair. Their score was 4/9 9/8 9/2. Jill Storer & Chris Smith had a very successful evening taken all three sets. Their score was 9/2 9/4 9/5. Newcomer Caroline Ashrafi & Julie Hunt completed the team scoring 2/9 1/9 3/9. Our first win 5/4 with a game score of 55/57.

Match against Ashby Castle 4 - 12.5.10
We played Ashby Castle at home this week, which resulted in an excellent win of 9/0. Marilyn Knibb & Jacky Deans lost just two games during the match. 9/1 9/1 9/0. Jill Storer & Chris Smith scored 9/2 9/2 9/1. Deb Ellis & Karen Westley proved once again a successful partnership scoring 9/3 9/1 9/0. Our game score was 81/11. Brilliant!

Match against Houghton 2 - 17.5.10
We played Houghton at home on Monday evening this week. Marilyn Knibb & Liz Rothero were unlucky to lose a tie break to the 1st pair but easily beat the 2nd and 3rd pairs. 8/9 9/4 9/2. Jill Storer & Chris Smith were unsuccessful against the 1st pair as well but beat the 2nd and 3rd pairs. 4/9 9/4 9/0. Deb Ellis & Karen Westley narrowly lost to the 1st pair 7/9, beat the 2nd pair 9/6, but were unable to take the set against the 3rd pair. 7/9. Overall score 5/4 with a game score of 71/52.

Match against Lutterworth 2 - 24.5.10
Fortunately Natasha Winch stepped in at the last minute to replace Deb Ellis who was unwell. We travelled to Lutterworth on Monday. The weather was very hot, but cooled down later. Jill Storer & Chris Smith lost a set against the very strong 1st pair 3/9 but easily defeated the 2nd and 3rd pairs 9/1 9/3. Liz Rothero & Sue Ellis proved a successful partnership also picking up two sets. 0/9 9/3 9/4. Natasha Winch & newcomer Wendy Brown played well picking up the vital set. Their score was 0/9 6/9 9/2. Final score 5/4 with a game score of 54/49.

Match against Enderby 2 - 9.6.10
We played Enderby 2 on Wednesday. The weather was wet and miserable. Jill Storer and Chris Smith narrowly lost a tie break to the 1st pair but beat the 2nd and 3rd pairs 9/6 9/3. Newcomer Wendy Brown and Marilyn Knibb also lost a tie break to the 1st pair and lost 6/9 to the 2nd pair but had a convincing win against the 3rd pair 9/3. Deb Ellis and Karen Westley were unfortunate to lose a tie break to the 3rd pair. Their score was 6/9 6/9 8/9. Set score 3/6 with a game score of 69/66.

Match against Charnwood 5 - 17.6.10
We played away at Charnwood on Thursday evening. Marilyn Knibb and Liz Rothero fought hard against the 3rd pair but eventually lost 5/9. They scored well against the other two pairs 9/7 9/3. Jill Storer and Chris Smith had a very successful evening scoring 9/4 9/6 9/6. Julie Hunt and Natasha Winch had some very close games against the opposition's 2nd pair and scored 5/9 7/9 1/9. The final result was 5/4 with a very close game score of 63/62.

Match against Rothley 3 - 1.7.10
We travelled to Rothley on Thursday for our penultimate match of the season. Marilyn Knibb and Liz Rothero lost to the 1st & 2nd pairs but managed to take a set from the 3rd pair. Their scores were 7/9 6/9 9/3. Jill Storer and Chris Smith had a close set against the 1st pair, coming back from 1-7 down to a tie break. They easily beat the 2nd and 3rd pairs. 8/9 9/4 9/1. Wendy Brown and Karen Westley proved a formidable pairing taking all three sets. 9/8 9/7 9/5. The final result a 6/3 win, with a game score of 75/55. Out final match next week is against Syston.

Match against Syston Northfields 3 - 7.7.10
Our last match of the season. Unfortunately Syston could only field four players, however they did bring along two 2nd team players, in order that we could have a full match. Marilyn Knibb and Liz Rothero only lost 5 games to the opposition scoring 9/0 9/1 9/4. Jill Storer (despite having lost her voice) and Chris Smith scored 9/0 9/4 9/2. Wendy Brown and Karen Westley played very well scoring 9/0 9/5 9/2. Final score 9/0 with a game score of 81/18. An excellent result! We celebrated the last match of the season with a glass of fizz!
